September 10, 2021 - Thought this was in a perfect spot. Melaka hodgepodge at its finest. Most hate the label but I actually liked it. Never hurts to test the boundaries. Big juicy red fruit up front. Raspberry and plum. Some smoke, leather, caramel and vanilla from the oak. Balance was good. Not super lengthy but was still a delight. Even got some floral,violet. Wish I had a few more.

May 2, 2021 - WOTN. With two good friends over for dinner, we opened this and a bottle of Clarendon Hills Hickinbotham Cab. Everyone was raving about the Hickenbotham until we opened the Meli Melo, and then there was simply no comparison. The Meli Melo stole the show (and the price is almost identical). Loving this wine!!

April 18, 2021 - I was just bowled over by this wine. This was dark and dense, with an expressive nose of dark fruit, cedar, and faint tar. It is both fruit forward and restrained (how can that be??!!), powerful, smooth, well integrated and balanced Just a joy to drink and a steal at ~$50 a bottle. I went in search of more today and scored 2 more bottles! It is much improved over my last tasting and in a great drinking window. I'm looking forward to serving this at one of our first post-COVID dinner parties!!

July 5, 2020 - Wow factor, rounded and elegant. Exhibits fig, dark cherry compote, blackberry, vanilla and caramel. That is a wine I would drink all night long... so good. Fruit forward, warm alcoholic finish, sone spice into it. Full bodied, long nice finish that is begging you to go at it again and again!! Thank you Philippe Melka for that wonderful offering. NI:5, FI:22, FC:10, B:4, L:4

February 9, 2020 - Wow, really interesting change. Opened the remaining bottle tonight and decanted. While I liked it (a lot!) yesterday, I’m amazed at the change. It was much softer across the board. Mellower, smoother, nice fruit, acidity and texture. Completely different then last night, but still a Solid 91 Pointer. Get more? Hell yes.
