September 8, 2017 - Popped and poured, but really needs 90mins minimum to open up, on the palate and in length in particular. Young, deep, dark, inky purple. Aromas are dusty muted red fruit driven, redcurrant, dark red cherry with nuances of sweetness. Weighting is towards a tingly front palate, although this does settle a little with time open. Mid and back palates are astringent, drying and hollow and splashing slight tartness, coating the bottom of the mouth with a distinct lingering numbness that remains at somewhat of a length. Feels Iike a text book cabernet donut missing the 'O' Merlot.
Improves with time open, try again end of 2018, perhaps a 5 year shelf life ahead of it.
