April 2, 2023 - Svårt att betygsätta men väldigt kul att prova. På väg nedför backen

January 7, 2023 - Last bottle and it was a treat. Great, smooth fruit. No signs of ageing so the bottles that remain in cellars should provide excellent experiences as they are consumed. The drinking window needs to be adjusted. 2025 at a minimum IMHO.

September 17, 2022 - Just a hint of orange around the rim, but this still looks rather youthful. Beguiling nose of maraschino cherry, dark chocolate and herby, smoky game meat. Lovely palate, sweet berries and dark cherry on the attack woven in with savoury elements and an almost grapefruit acidity. Very long finish of spice, smoke - the gamey herby kind again, tar and quince jam. Beautifully structured and elegant expression of CR drunk at peak.

June 4, 2022 - Darker garnet. Nose of pine forest, char, peppery spice, earthy floral notes. Layers of blackberry, black pepper, tarry iodine on the palate. Moderate acidity and firm but smoothed tannin. Longer finish of chiming plum fruit and crushed rock. Nicely done.

May 9, 2022 - Based on the April 22 review I decided to open a bottle. This vintage has been hit or miss and I have had a couple of off bottles. This bottle was a hit with a big but smooth structure and excellent fresh fruit. Very enjoyable and no real sign of ageing out. I am thinking that my off bottles may have just been too young? One bottle left which I am looking forward to opening.

    (E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie Château d'Ampuis) Bricked medium dark red violet color; very mature, possibly heat damaged, roasted meat nose; mature, roasted meat palate with more acidity than one would expect from this bottling and vintage
