September 10, 2023 - RdD wines were something like my 2nd love in the early years of my wine tasting "hobby." Somehow they fell off the map in my purchasing history (replaced by Cru Bojo and the like), but I really should have stick with them. These wines were (maybe yet remain ) incredible values. They had a serious sense of place with that RdD dustiness. This wine has held up very nicely. It's certainly fully mature. The mature, partwise oxidized strawberry component on the fore palate is impressive and makes a unique and thankful counterpoint to the still drying tannin presence. There's good body and roasted coffee bean with other tertiary complexities. The wine didn't fall to pieces open over a couple nights. It's held its own through the years, and, again, reminds me of my 2nd-ish wine region crush.

    September 20, 2015 - Wow wine

    Inky black, polished.
Intense black fruit on nose, long finish fine tannins.
    palate rounded, silky, blackberries
    Just as good 3rd day
    Structure refined
    serve cool.
kept in cellar for 7 years

July 17, 2015 - last bottle of this from a purchase from a different time of buying wine for me. This opened a bit tarry and heavy handed - like a one noted aglianico. The wine is a very dark purple and there are some roasted extracted elements lurking, but in the end and with ample air this was serviceable and fine. I would drink these up and with a 30 minute decant enjoy it. Right now, after a day in fridge and last glass, it has a bit of coffee, espresso roasted grape but with a touch of acidity to keep it in check. Fine, but ultimately not a re buy.

June 5, 2015 - Not a stunner, I think maybe on the way down now and past prime. Didn't do much for me and I really like this producer. I was hoping that holding this a decade would yield some dividends, but disappointed. Still drinkable but just meh. I would drink up --and maybe decant? (I didn't)

December 24, 2013 - 2 hour decant an then time in the decanter allowed this deep red to really open up into a smooth, rich long legged delicious with tapas

(VILLACRECES RIBERA DEL DUERO) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-beautiful; complex richness & creaminess, Vanilla, green bell pepper & milk chocolate (Twix bar), a little Pixie stick powdered sugar aspect; TASTE-Home Run; initial mouthfeel is so ridiculously elegant (like a warm bath); really ripe complex dark fruit (blackberry, blueberry & cassis); very impressed; a little too Oaky; well made, great-great richness, really coats your palate; at $32, it's a SCREAMING Value!!, a phenomenal bottle; there's a beautiful sourness; great firm tannins, very rich-elegant-polished-perfect; anybody drinking Napa Cabernets should seek this out; WS-95; GV-93+
