May 12, 2020 - It was a wine with a pale and slightly colored brick red almost Garnet. On the nose it was of pronounced intensity, with primary aromas of ripe plum, cherry, cinnamon and licorice and rose. For the tertiary aromas these where of a musky and hint of barnyard aromatic.
On the palate the wine was of a dry sweetness and medium acidity whichwas stimulating in the mouth. The tannins where well integrated and of a robust nature. The alcohol was medium and well integrated as expected of the wine. The primary aromas of plum, cherry, cinnamon and licorice and rose and the tertiary aromas of musk where reflected.
This wine was paired with a a rich meaty dish which worked well... the decanting time was 1 hour...
June 9, 2019 - First bottle, tasted 06/09/19. Decanted for an hour and a half, but no pulse or enjoyment in this one. Black tea notes.
For a Nebbiolo from a well-regarded Barolo producer (e.g., their delicious Liste Barolo) and from a very good vintage, this is notably disappointing and unimpressive. 83 points
Second bottle purchased from same store on same day as first bottle, tasted 04/28/20. 87 points. Thinner body, but enjoyable with food. First bottle may have been defective.
October 12, 2018 - Light red, with hint of brick at edge. Sour cherry, wood nose. Good sweet fruit, texturally rich. Refreshing.
October 7, 2017 - A lovely savoury wine, fully expressive of the variety. There are cedar and earth notes along with dried flowers and red berries. It is generous with good structure.
September 29, 2017 - At the winery, from a bottle opened 24 hours ago:
Pale ruby, hint scarlet color.
Nose of cherry and blood orange, orange zest.
Initially reserved, not much on palate.
Finish is long, tannic, flavors of cedar and orange zest, lots of tannins, finely resolving.
Moderately rich mouthfeel, but still opaque, revealing little fruit or secondary flavors til the finish. Probably black raspberry, black cherry, Maraschino. 85/100 (3) but may improve.
At the winery, from a bottle opened now:
Similar color, perhaps more cherry red.
Nose has more red fruit and cedar, less orange.
Palate is more open, dry Maraschino cherry.
Finish is more cedar, less orange.
