August 7, 2020 - corked.
May 31, 2020 - Enjoyable Chianti for Sunday night pasta.
Not harsh in any way but rather smooth and approachable.
Good to have in the cellar for such an occasion.
April 10, 2020 - Nice Chianti.
February 16, 2020 - Tasty food wine. Bone dry and light cherry.
January 12, 2020 - Cedar and slight iodine notes dominate but also bitter cherry with hard tannin. A light body wine that left me underwhelmed. Awkward and angular.
December 8, 2019 - To be fair it would’ve been hard for this to live up to the 92 pt #33 ranking from WS. That said, it’s a pretty damn good $11 Chianti. Red & black cherries, earth, with nice minerals & a tartness on the finish.
December 1, 2019 - After seeing the Wine Spectator picking this in their "Top 100 of 2019", rating it at 92 and pricing at $14, I figured this is my type of wine. Despite 61,000 cases produced, very few local shops had this wine (NW Boston suburbs area), but I found the last 12 bottles at a local hole in the wall shop for $10.60, so I snapped up all 12. I have no idea what the storage conditions were (I believe that this wine has been on the market for about a year), although it was brought up "from the basement". I was generally disappointed, given the tout by WS. The wine has medium cherry fruit and tart acidity. Color is medium red. No strong negatives, just no strong positives. OK, but not great. I will not go looking for another case. San Felice Chianti Classico from the same vintage (2015) was much better.
September 13, 2019 - PnD let air for 3hrs.
This needs the D.
Nice integration complexity cherry porcini on the nose and palate. Earthy cherry finish.
August 10, 2019 - Nose: Purple florals and bright cherries from above, rich (carbonic?) earth with some firm and intense acidity on the nose as you come closer, deep earthy moss with firm yet softly spiced oak and a very subtle cranberry as you go into the glass.
Palate: Dark red fruits integrated nicely with rich, dark earth with some soft spiced oak. Crushed wet, gravelly minerality as well.
Dark but clear Ruby. Dry with medium amounts of grainy, grippy tannins. Light to light-plus body with medium acidity (well hidden but lingers on the palate). Good finish of at least 10-11 seconds. You can decant but I think enjoy from a pop a pour and let take your time with it in the glass. Seems to evolve quickly in the glass without much time. I haven't had enough Chianti to know what it should really taste like or what good quality is but I feel that there are enough things to keep this one interesting. The 90 points is for my biased palate but I think if Chianti is supposed to be like this, those who enjoy it should probably expect 91-92.
June 1, 2019 - PnP
Nice complexity on the nose.
Disjointed on the palate not enough substance to balance the acidity. Needs air and food. Hoping it would be case worthy not sure.
