July 7, 2023 - The wine is deep Ruby with purple hues. The wine is dry, acid is medium, tannins are medium high but very integrated and smooth, salinity is medium, alcohol is high but integrated, body is full.

On the nose, deep ripe black fruits jumping from the glass, a potent licorice aroma with hints of eucalyptus.

On the palate, the wine is extremely balanced - velvety tannins and perfect amounts of acidity compliment the robust dark black and ripe red fruits. Plums, blackberries, and dark cherries. Oak and vanilla layer in. The finish is long, leaving pleasant sweet black fruits, oak and vanilla on my palate with a slight acidity making my mouth water for more.

Subjective notes: This wine is very good, and a great buy at $35.

December 6, 2022 - Went back to this a day later and very impressed. Deep ruby colour, slightly light on the nose hiding some of its power. Faint black cherry, violet and a hint of dark chocolate. Dry; acidity and alcohol high - tannins medium to high. Softer and well balanced but still plenty of structure and somewhere for this wine to go. Primary flavours of black cherries with some real spicy, peppery kick - also some secondary oak character of dark chocolate and vanilla - comes over like an unsweetened black cherry dark chocolate liqueur. Flavours are pronounced and finish is pleasantly long. Very good wine, will cellar some to see if complexity and tertiary flavours develop but otherwise very happy to drink now.

November 15, 2022 - Very nice wine smooth and complex. Nose of herbs, palate of blackberry, plum, oak and spice. Good acidity integrated tannins. Long finish.

October 16, 2022 - Grand Corbin Manuel's 2016 is an opaque ruby blend of 84% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. This particular bottle was Vinturi-decanted and allowed five hours in carafe prior to serving. Beautifully aromatic, it flaunts a bouquet of Montmorency cherries, red currants, violets, licorice and Asian spices. Medium-bodied, fresh, judiciously oaked and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.5%), it delivers flavors in line with the aromas and stays solid on the mid-palate. The tannins are abundant but quite stealth by virtue of their silky texture. Lengthy and smooth on the back end, this is a charming but deceivingly structured Saint-Émilion that will surprise many pundits with its longevity. Drink now-2036.
