March 24, 2024 - This was fabulous in the nose from the moment the bottle was opened, but it needed an hour and a quarter in the glass to wake up in the mouth, so if you'll be tasting one of these, I'd suggest a decant of an hour and a quarter before you're planning to drink it. Once it did wake up--WOW! Rich and creamy, with plums, cantaloupe, caramel, flowers, nuts, licorice, tobacco, cherries, bubble gum, candied lemon peel, and a faint touch of pine needles, all followed by a huge and endless aftertaste. This is a stunning wine! [Tasted over a long evening from the Jancis Robinson glass.]

September 14, 2023 - Guys night - a bottle with a story (Jason's house): Decanted 4+ hours, drank a good-sized glass over 2 hours. Rich, round, very smooth, spicy pepper, blackberry, blueberry, currant, savory dill, earthy, kind of a blueberry pie without being so sweet.

September 14, 2023 - Guys Night - Wines with a story behind it! (Jason's House): Decanted at 5:00; served at 9:30.

This wine rocked tonight! I think Napa wines from the 1994 vintage are drinking remarkably well right now! This is certainly no exception! I can't imagine it improving, but I also don't see it on a downward trajectory for quite a few more years.

Nose showed plenty of earth, perfumed purple flowers, some cigar box and some fine dust. Palate showed a nice balance of tertiary flavors and dark fruit, i.e., blackberry and black currant, with earth, tobacco, baking spice and toasted oak. The palate also showed shades of coffee and dark chocolate. The balance is remarkable between the fruit, tannins and acids, all in perfect harmony. Definitely a kick--ass wine! 96+ for me (my benchmark is 98).

Groups WOTN, my #2 (by a hair)

February 4, 2023 - Salinity, spice, fruit… Bryant! Brute force, beast of a wine. Hint of my favorite sour cherry Warhead note. @ Napa Boys Trip

July 17, 2022 - Annual BYO Pre-Dinner (mostly mature Bordeauxs): This is the second time I was able to taste this legend in a matter of months (thanks GH!) and this bottle fully confirmed the positive impression: intense, highly complex aromas embedded in the finest structural frame. This showed even better than the last bottle (rated 97 pts) thanks to more concentration and a higher precision. Wow!

TN: On the nose, this was a bit shy at first but blossomed with time in the glass, on the palate, however, is the real deal, right from the start. Intense, broad aromatic profile with bright red fruit, dark red berries, dark fruit, herbs, minerality, cola notes and even some slight malty notes. Wow. Amazing purity and absolute lightness. More intensity and substance than the bottle before. Absolute round tannins, medium+ acidity which keeps it light and airy. So balanced. Very long and expanding finish.
