November 5, 2022 - Rhone Birthday 2022; 11/4/2022-11/6/2022: Had a little reduction at first but beautiful core of red fruits with a taught focused palate. Tensile and vibrant if still quite young. Lovely baking spice character.
I really like the style here. Restrained, elegant, focused, structured.

May 4, 2022 - Fleshy and densely packed bouquet with smoky overlays, wet earth and bramble berry fruit. High octane stuff overall, although floral and perfume dimensions add sufficient elegance. Palate with well integrated tannin, even if still young and not yet fully integrated, showing a more cherry-type of fruit. A long finish ensues, although the palate did appear less layered than the nose.

May 4, 2022 - No detailed notes taken. A late addition towards the end of the evening after three mature Bordeaux blends. Usually not really a good idea to serve a voluptuous, young, ripe CdP? Sure, but this is not one of those CdPs. The 2016 Guigasse is complex, precise not too ripe, actually not at all that ripe with lots of blue and black fruit mixed with the red berries and floral notes, lots of minerality, meaty notes and herbs. Others had it blind and were wondering if this could be a Bordeaux (something Syrah were the other guesses) which shows that this 100% Grenache is indeed from another planet and not comparable to most oder Chateauneufs. Despite being that young, this delivered a stunning performance with already very fine tannins, a superb freshness, a nice creaminess and balance (which will certainly improve further with age). 94/95 pts.

Decanting: PnP, decanted and followed over an hour+. Needed not much time to open up. No extensive decanting necessary.

March 29, 2022 - A wonderful CdP that I purchased for only $45 at Auction. Bottle 2 of 2. Hi acidity, M+ tannins, M body. 15.0% abv. 100% Grenache. Balanced, smooth, and a rustic elegance. Lots of fresh cherry and red raspberry, dried herbs, licorice, bramble. Great and surprisingly good pairing with Mexican Style Chicken tortilla soup.

November 25, 2021 - Another great auction wine purchase, paid only $45. I thought this might be too young but drinking wonderfully. Very smooth, balanced, and great finish. Both finese and power. 100% Grenache from 50-100 year old vines. Grapes not destemmed, whole-bunch fermented.

September 26, 2021 - My first encounter with this producer and I can say with confidence that this is one of my very favorite producers (from now on). Distinctively different from most other CDPs with so much delicacy, restraint and the complete focus on elegance and finesse. Not one shred of excess weight or too much ripeness, high complexity and perfect balance. What is missing for an even higher score? A touch higher precision as well as slightly higher aromatic intensity overall. I don't think it lacks depth as others have reviewed.

TN: Expressive, highly elegant, soft and balanced on the nose with lots of tobacco, wet forest floor, kirsch and raspberries, minerality. Very delicate and with very good complex. Flawless on the palate with so much elegance, no weight, very Burgundian for a CDP, with a perfectly integrated acidity, freh, light and slightly creamy texture and superb balance. The same aromatic complexity with fresh, pure, not too ripe kirsch, raspberries, blueberries, with time pure fresh ripe strawberries, tobacco, forest floor, herbs, crushed rocks, some caramel notes. Ever so slightly evolving. Long finish. Despite its 15% alcohol, there is no alcohol detectable (and I‘m highly sensitive re alcohol).

Decanting: Not decanted, no decanting necessary. Following it over some time reveals all the complexity.

July 7, 2021 - Burgundian styled Grenache, nice soft rich red fruits and light spice. Impressive texture. A bit lighter in style with a fresh juicy side. A tad light on spice and depth, quite tasty.

December 24, 2020 - A very fine and tasty wine with roasted duck, 15 % but not burning on the palate, was served slightly cooled, nice tannic finish.
