November 13, 2021 - I like the Castellare style since many years but this CCR left me clueless. It starts with the colour which is medium to light red with being a bit murky, no clear colour, no brilliance. The nose pretty muted, also after 3hrs in the glass and on the palate you find Chianti notes in the Castellare expression but not harmonized. Its unbalanced. No impulse to do the next sip.
Fortunately the only bottle I had.

Bottle variance? Maybe. But clearly no TCA or so.

January 21, 2020 - A difficult vintage, but this is a clear winner. That said, it needs another year or two at least before it's properly fully developed. Still, no harm in opening one now if you have several. I've tasted about 70%+ of all the wines from this region in this vintage, and this is a keeper. Darker, deeper, but also softer and more accessible than Sangiovese from a traditional producer in a 'classic' vintage. If you can still find some, it's definitely worth a go. I've had it about 6 times since release, and while I may have wanted a bit more (that really only comes with time), it never once failed me. Bravo Alessandro/Castellare in Castellina! 13,5% abv., drink thru 2026. recommended

February 25, 2018 - Soft red fruits, gentle oak. Quite a muted showing. Medium+ acidity, softer medium tannins, and just about medium+ on the finish. Not the right time to drink.
