April 22, 2022 - 3 hrs slow ox. Very sad to learn this was my only btl of '12 Hundsruck. Should have opened a Centgrafenburg, sigh. On the nose: heavenly aromatics with wild strawberry, soft coconut cream, herbs, pomegranate molasses...somehow decadent and rich, but simultaneously restrained. On the palate: fantastic acidity, but dark and brooding with black cherry, strawberry, iodine and brine, almost dark seaweed with a lovely mineral turn. This has complexity in spades, but is less easily-drinkable at this stage than the 11 or the 13. Nwvertheless, it is still amazingly compelling and a frankly stunning wine...I am only sad this is my last btl because I suspect this will be transcendent in 5-10 years.
