July 8, 2020 - Four hour decant. Deep dark magenta color. Boysenberry, plum, dark chocolate, strawberry jam, hydrangea, eggplant, vanilla pudding and subtle paprika on the complex nose. Super smooth palate, with fine, voluptuous acidity. Firm tannins on the long finish.

This is already very deep and complex, but has so much room to grow. It’s very youthful and could become a rare 100 pt wine in a year or two. 100% Cabernet from the best barrels of the best vineyards around Napa.

July 4, 2020 - Wonderful, exceptionnal, world class example of Napa! Simply goosebump inducing level of greatness here! Very much Napa and not Bordeaux, but so exceptionnally well balanced and with a huge drinkability factor, making it impossible to put down the glass. Strong showing of why Napa is widely regarded as the second best origin of Cab after Bordeaux.

November 8, 2019 - Deserving of its seat at the top of the Alpha Omega hierarchy the Era is undeniable for its marrying of major fruit density and gobs of toasty new
French oak, for its heavenly plush texture, and its surprising early drinkability. Alpha Omega impresses with big Cabernet based wines that nonetheless drink right out of the gate. If I had the money and this were my style I would definitely give Alpha Omega a close look.

November 30, 2018 - Leading the charge with black soil and earthy black and dark red/purple fruit, the Era delivers a healthy amount of flavor on the initial attack. More concentration and depth than the Crane in its current state, the Era is seemingly starting to spread its feathers earlier than the other AO wines since being in bottle. The Era also displayed some nice dark/black spice notes as well that already seem to be working beautifully with the dark fruit core.

Will the Era shut down at some point? Will the Crane wake up at some point? Will the president be impeached at some point?? Who knows! I’d imagine the best guess to all of those questions is, “Yeah, I suppose so...”

Like the Crane, the finish on the Era was a little youthfully linear. The Era is certainly all about the front end right now.

The Era seems to be drinking surprisingly well with some air, but in all reality, I’d let this sit for a couple of years just to get a true sense of what the intended manifestation of this wine will be. It’s got bones for aging, and flavor for pleasure. Try again in 2021+. 95+ points for now.

November 23, 2018 - This wine has shown some nice improvement, this time around. Dark purple color, dark, black and blueberry fruit, cassis however, still young and restrained at this point. Although this Era has developed some weight and complexity, this vintage will require more bottle time. That said, it’s clearly a wine with a some solid upside by a few points.
