November 29, 2021 - Extremely young but already very nice with some air. Black fruited, rich and viscous. Another 3 to 5 years of age will really enhance this.

September 25, 2021 - Loved those wine. Very smooth and pretty big beaurdeaux with just a hint of peppery spice that added a little funk to make this an absolute favorite wine.

    Drank at Macrina’s with Jay.

September 11, 2021 - 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 30% new oak. Opened, not decanted for about 2 hours. Nose starts off with plums and spice but it builds to cassis, tobacco, pencil shavings and coffee. The palate is still well structured with moderate but soft tannins and plenty of acidity. The palate is quite savory with a lot of the same notes as the nose with a touch of vanilla. Comes off as classic northern Medoc, more Paulliac actually despite all the Merlot. For Napa Cab lovers, this will require food since it's not the fruitiest wine at the moment but the fruit comes out more when contrasted with salty and fatty food.

September 10, 2021 - This wine is dominated by acidity. I confess that beyond this default, il is well made, with tannins quite soft.
It suffers a lack of length and complexity to me.

May 4, 2021 - Opague purple ruby long legs at 14%abv. Immediately open with dried violet, graphite, sweet spicea, crunchy black fruits, some camphor, savoury minerals and oak. Medium to full body, it is pleasurable to drink this rich, high quality St Estephe quality wine young. Delicious.

March 9, 2021 - This is a very strong second wine and a testament to the greatness of the 2016 vintage. It’s unctuous and full of ripe black fruits but has plenty of buffering acidity and a crunchy taut finish with superb notes of purple spices, graphite minerals and eucalyptus. Gorgeous now with food but the tannins and balance suggest a few more years will be beneficial.

February 22, 2021 - Super gulpable wine. Good approximation of the style of the grand vin which isn't nearly ready yet. A tad short on the finish but I could drink this all night. Great pairing with less fatty cuts or even chicken/pork. Doesn't have the tannic structure to cut the fat. But I don't miss it here.

January 28, 2021 - Better on opening than my previous bottle, and more enjoyable overall. Much less emphasis on the oak, with sweet fruit on the attack and some lead pencil notes in addition to the elements previously noted.

January 28, 2021 - Smooth, ripe and fresh, crunchy (the young Cabernet vine stocks bring pep to the blend), obvious and subtle at the same time. Aromatics derived from cassis, pomegranate, tomato, rhubarb and sweet oak with a lingering fine acidity holding everything together. Accessible now although I would cellar it 4-5 additional years. A definite step-up compared to the 2017 which appears more acidic and less deep. Based on a bottle tasting made a few months ago without written note. 91++

January 27, 2021 - Excellent on the nose with floral and earth scents. On the palate, cherry, graphite, just a touch of tannins and small bite. Forest floor, chalky but otherwise, excellent!
