September 6, 2018 - Round and approachable Priorat wine, very similar in style to the previous vintage. Varietal composition: 70 percent Samsó (Carinyena, coming from 20 to 80 year old vines; llicorella/slate soils) and 30 percent Garnatxa and Garnatxa Peluda. Maturation: the wine was aged for ten months in French oak barrels (2nd, 3rd and 4th use). Color: intense cherry-red in color with a violet rim. Nose: attractive bouquet with fruity aromas of blackberry, licorice, tobacco, graphite and a touch of black pepper. On the palate: abundant juicy plum and red forest fruit, sweet spices, a smooth texture, ripe tannins and a well-integrated acidity. Lengthy finish with some balsamic nuances. The wine is highly enjoyable now and will remain so for at least another 3-4 years.
