February 20, 2023 - Super dark in colour, full bodied. Dark cherries, great mouthfeel, superb structure. Definetly in its drinking window.
February 19, 2023 - Still vibrant and full-bodied. Drink this year to fully enjoy this wine’s character.
December 4, 2021 - Wow, that was my last 2015 bottle , but worth the wait!!
Silky taste, subtle plum, quite amazing.
These Caymus Zin seems at peek at around 5-6 years
September 19, 2021 - Great, but reaching its cellar keeping limit. Drink it before too late.
It now start to have some plum taste.
Still very enjoyable.
June 4, 2021 - Still drinking very well.
This was the last bottle from our first case of Caymus Zinfandel that we ever purchased.
It has never disappointed. The word I always use is that it is drinkable.
If we had additional bottles, I would not have worried about additional aging, but I don't know if additional aging will do much.
November 14, 2020 - Rich and bold - dark plums. Not your typical zin. Watch out Cabernets.
January 4, 2020 - Wow, what a Zin. Will add more
July 26, 2019 - Aging very well.
If anything, has rounded out to a more satisfying balance since last year.
And was still drinking well on 2nd day.
It has a distinctly different taste from most other good California zin's. But that does not matter at all.
It is just a really easy drinking wine, and there is not a single red wine drinker we have served it to who has not enjoyed it.
July 20, 2019 - As dark as it gets, pitch black. Nose is buttered bread, ripe strawberry, grape tootsie roll. For all the ripe fruits in nose, the palate is tastefully oaked with a dry structure along with minerality, which cradles the supple red fruit flavors tastefully. I also get steak gristle in the finish, which seems insane in a wine, but just adds more dimension. This is an interesting Zinfandel that shows its terroir better than any Zin I’ve had from California. Great QPR if you can find it. We purchased at the Caymus Winery in 2017.
