January 31, 2024 - Revisited this bottle last night and we both determined that there was some sort of flaw in this bottle. Mrs. TLV thought a touch of TCA, but I don't think that was it. Perhaps its just a bad bottle of wine - I'll check back soon with another bottle.
January 29, 2024 - The bottle of '18 that we opened with dinner was consumed much too quickly, so I grabbed a bottle of the '15. Much different animal as this was tight and a bit austere. Put the cork back in and will revisit another night.
December 14, 2023 - Lovely somewhat earthy Pinot. 2 hour decant had it in a great place. Paired perfectly with a meaty chili and cornbread.
April 16, 2023 - Bottle seemed off.
March 21, 2023 - dark ruby purple; raspberry, rhubarb, sarsaparilla, mushrooms, pine needles, lavender, cedar: full bodied, surprisingly structured, good acidity despite ripeness, 14.6% ABV; made from 100% Pinot Noir by winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown, sourced from estate vineyard just a few miles from Pacific Ocean, aged in 33% new French oak from multiple coopers; $75
February 4, 2023 - This was fine, but underwhelming to my taste. The flavor profile is solid but there was a bit of effervescence that I and others in the group found a bit offputting. This calmed down after a few hours so I would definitely favor opening for at least 2 hours before drinking and probably letting it breathe in a decanter for that entire time. Will update when we do that with our next bottle.
December 4, 2022 - 2 hrs ox and served with spaghetti with meat sauce. Nose was not very pronounced, with soft fruits and maybe a light touch of lilac. Drinking well with lots of fresh berry fruits and maybe a bit of tea on the long finish. Well balanced for fruity acidity and smooth tannins. Trying the 2016 next and will compare.
November 5, 2022 - Pine and underbrush aromas, sappy cherry fruit, earthy, with a spicy finish. Didn't decant but there was a decent amount of sediment in the glass.
April 19, 2022 - Crimson in color. 14.8% ABV. Brooding nose of dark fruits, forest floor and flowers. Full bodied with perfect acidity. Big, dark and structured. Black cherry, mushroom, sarsaparilla and earth on the palate. The finish is long and silky with subtle tannins. Not your prototypical Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir but there is lots to like here. This will age well. Best over the next 4-6 years.
April 7, 2022 - First bottle. I expect this is its peak. Well integrated, restrained fruit, my kind of pinot.
