February 29, 2020 - Drank along Pott Incubo 2015, slow oxed for 12 hours, opened up nicely.

January 2, 2020 - Same as previous note. Needs time but I’m impatient with these...

November 27, 2019 - Deep garnet... the 2015 Greer has a strikingly aromatic nose, very balanced, showcasing a fruit salad of blue and black fruits: cassis, strawberry, plums. This is complicated by hints of wax, menthol, orange peel, brioche. On the palate, the wine lives right in the edge: ripe but not excessively sweet or rich, framed by just a touch of acidity, but not to the point of seeming tart, very sleek tannins but not chewy or “plush”, and with a long mineral-supported finish. Very drinkable now (with a few hours to breath), but probably won’t hit its peak before 2027, and I would expect it to still be drinking extremely well in 2037. I’ll rate it 96, but arguably this is a bit generous right this second, and conversely might seem a bit stingy if you plan to wait another three or four years before trying it!

Treatment: I opened these six hours early but they seemed tight as dinner approached. So I double decanted to a clean decanter and then back into the bottle about two hours before dinner. This worked well for the 2014-2016, although the 2013 didn’t really unwind until the next day.

October 12, 2019 - Slo-oxed for 5 hrs, then decanted for another 1.5-2 hrs. Tight as all get go from the initial bottle opening. Showed nothing but structure and balance until in the glass at dinner after the decant. And then some fruit and chocolate notes start to emerge, earthy tones. Beautiful balance. This will be great, give it maybe 10 years.

September 4, 2019 - 14.5% abv. Dark purple color, great viscosity. Black fruits, star anise, cocoa on nose. Tremendous dusty Rutherford dirt on palate, mouth coating tannins, plus weight in mouth. Black fruits, chocolate covered cherry cake, baked pastries, mint. Long finish, alternately sweetness and acidity as it fades. Very good wine. Looking forward to comparing with 2016.
