December 9, 2023 - Annual Caroling & Chili Party (R&D's): Double decanted off its sediment an hour before the event. Initially quite reticent this took time to open up. Mixed red and black fruit with typical herbaceous franc overtones. Nice.

May 25, 2019 - 4th Saturday Brown Bagger (Our house): Blind. Herbal red and dark fruit notes with underlying chocolate tones. The palate mirrors the bouquet. Well-balanced, with a lingering finish. There's an enjoyable plush texture to the wine. Excellent. I picked this as franc, but did not think it was our bottle of the JJ. 92+ pts.

May 11, 2019 - Retailer tasting. Dark fruit with a dusty earth note and subtle herbal undertones. Lush red fruit on the palate with soft tannins. Medium+ finish.
