Community Tasting Notes 5

November 10, 2012 - At a restaurant, no formal notes. Opened for 30 min. On nose offers and intense bouquet of black fruits, pencil lead and tobacco. On palate it's lush, rich, mouth coating and with tannins still present but not aggressive. It's overall powerful but smooth as a silk glove and it drinks beautiful. A good expression of modern Rioja in a great vintage.

July 30, 2011 - Dark purple color. Nose of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, dark fruit. More of the same and a bit too oaky for me on the palate. Came across a bit flat in terms of flavor and there was some heat on the back end. Nose was the best part of the wine. 100 pts JM? Really?

August 7, 2007 - Very nice Rioja, good balance between the washed-out old oak of the traditionalists and the dark, charred oak of the modernists

June 2, 2007 - Very nice nose of blackberry, cassis and a faint green element. I found the finish to be just a tad hot, with dominant flavors of sour cherry.

May 5, 2007 - Very tannice, lots of blueberries and dark fruit. Oak, concentration, but not special.

(BODEGAS PUJANZA NORTE) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-very New World, milky aspect, Kirsch, red licorice, explosive cherries, viscous/heavy; TASTE-this is a baby, heavy bitter tannin structure, but huge complexity; tremendous velvet Red currant, mocha, very firm grip, very structured & complex, great mix of Old & New World, delivering for $80, a great "Put-away" wine, will continue to improve; AP-100; JM-93; GV-95
