April 6, 2024 - Opened this to finish off my last bottle of the 2015. The bottle has been stored well, but the cork came out in about 3 pieces. No obvious signs of it being flawed on the nose. Poured into a decanter for over 2 hours. First few sips after decanting were disjointed. Came together slowly with more air time as we sipped it slowly with dinner. As others mentioned, profile had a mix between black and red fruit, hints of tobacco and tar. Missing quality secondary notes. Overall, this was missing the pleasurable mark we were hoping for on this evening. Likely past its peak prime and steadily sliding down a bumpy snow hill. Glad this was my last 2015 bottle, otherwise I’d be popping the remainder of them quickly.

February 14, 2024 - Popped this open on Valentine’s Day to enjoy with my wife. It was a gift from one of my very best friends in the world and I have held it for a special occasion. Today is the day. This was an effort to get into as the cork ripped in half and the started to crumble. I was able to extract it and strained and decanted for about an hour. Rich notes of purple plum, boysenberry and subtle spice box. Ripe mulberry notes with great depth and a long finish. Rich and hedonistic as Bevan is known for. Very good, but I would recommend drinking in the near term. It made for a great compliment to an enjoyable evening.

January 19, 2024 - Strong currant and leather notes on the nose. More leather, dark fruit, and morello cherries on the palate. Very smooth and well integrated tannins. Extremely long finish. Went well with some strong cheeses.

January 13, 2024 - PNP this one with intent to leave some for day 2 tasting. Nice and fragrant of sweet tobacco and violet. Palate follows suit with those notes, adding touches of semi sweet chocolate chips. Smooth and silky. Medium acidity and light tongue tannins. This may be a touch past its optimal drinking window, missing some secondary characteristics I would have wanted. I feel these Ontogeny wines are meant to be consumed within 5-7 years.
Will likely drink my remaining 2015s soon.

January 8, 2024 - Good intensity in this polished red. There are bright red and black fruits withsome tar in the background. The wine is medium to full bodied, with refined tannins and good acidity. Lacks the complexity and depth for a higher score. Drinking now, will ladt another decade.

December 31, 2023 - Typical explosive Bevan but nonetheless showed great character to complement the bold winemaking style.

Tobacco, herb, chocolate all well integrated with an excellent finish. In a good drinking window for certain.

January 31, 2023 - Plenty have written competent notes about this wine. I will add that it is aging well at this point. Dark fruit, that holds the ALC fairly well. It lacks a breath of palate to move it up in the score. This wine should please the masses that are not ALC sensitive but will leave some wanting the wine to give just a little more.

December 28, 2022 - Jeb Dinnuck’s tasting notes are spot-on for this tasty Bordeaux blend. Bold bouquet of violets, black fruit, leather and pencil lead. Opens up with plums and black cherries, mocha and licorice. Silky tannins and a 20-second finish.

December 5, 2022 - I forgot how big these wines are. Consumed over two days as this was almost undrinkable upon opening. Extended ox is needed for full expression. A reflection of a hot vintage and unapologetic wine making style. I wonder how these wines age.
