October 13, 2018 - Over the last couple of months this has really come together into an exceptional bottle of Taillepieds, almost soil-to-glass-transfer status as it is just textbook for the cru. The material is broad and expansive and could pass for grand cru material. It is intensely stony, one of those wines that feels as much solid as liquid, but also features beautiful blackberry and violet-tinged fruit with the full, fleshy body that characterizes the vintage but also a nice fresh snap.

November 20, 2017 - Decided to crack one of the two bottles I got from Lyle. PnPed. My first 2015 and my first bottle from Boussey, so I don't know how much of the characteristics to attribute to each. I do have a lot of experience with Taillepieds, and this strikes me overall as more 1-D and more juicy than most - but it's a young 2015 so that could be it. The nose shows blue-red fruits: blackberry, raspberry, a touch of black cherry, blueberry and strawberry. The fruit is quite juicy and young, and pretty ripe - but never goes over the top. There is some complexity in the nose: some sandalwood and lavender, a touch of spice, a bit of orange zest, and hints of mineralty. These aspects add a touch of velvet plushness to the nose. This is more visible in the palate, which shows the ripe fruit, but the sandalwood and lavender really come out in the midpalate (maybe it's how the oak is showing) and give the wine a nice texture - it's fruiter and riper than what I really love, but with age it could develop well (I will track it over the next few days). The fruit gets somewhat redder and more tart. This would be about a 15/20.

Another pour and the wine is definitely improving with air: stones and more minerals, and also some red florals. The palate texture is even better, with good acid and some grippy fine tannins: wild strawberry, cherry, spices, roses, touch of orange zest, lavender, sandalwood. The finish shows the savory lavender and sandalwood with some minerality and the fruit moving redder towards pomegranate and cranberry. This is quite good and good QPR just under $50. Nose - 5+/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5+/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1+/2 = 16.5+/20 (with 16.5-17.5/20 potential).
