November 30, 2019 - Black and red berries throughout with roasted meat, savory spice and earth notes. Balanced to start, some pronounced tannin hints on finish. Overall still nicely fresh for its level. Enjoy within the next 3-5 years.

May 14, 2018 - Red and black berry with savory spice and a touch of nutmeg and some emerging earthiness, while nicely fresh for its age. Starts out slightly ripe, then good acidity middle through finish. Very good now, this should drink well for at least another 5 years.

October 30, 2016 - Strong volatility on the nose. Less so on the palate. There is a nice Pinot underneath that that still shows generous fruit. But that small is distracting. Lessons were learned this vintage I'm sure. Given how this wine is showing I would not say it's really showing a ton of maturity. If not for that VA it would probably be in a really nice place.

April 24, 2014 - Medium-dark red color with medium transparency. Dark fruited aromas of cherry, leather, blackberry, and some meat. Palate has slight brett. nuance of leather, brimstone, and horse, but it all works in the context of this wine with herbal cherry, blackberry, and some rhubarb notes that carry into a medium finish. Elements of cola and root beer show up with time in the glass. Still holding pretty well, but seems like a good time to drink these up. Drink or hold.

June 18, 2013 - Still ripe aromatics but showing some age. A bit of tomato. Fairly tasty. A bit over the top but not out of balance. I wonder what 5 more years will do.

December 18, 2012 - This needed about 30 minutes for the spritz to subside. Crunchy nose of rasberries and cherries. Dark cherries on the palate. Needs another few years.

March 15, 2012 - Blind Tasting '04-'07 Rhys Alesia Pinot Noirs (Tom's House, Palo Alto, CA): Red fruit and v.a. on the nose. Medium bodied with medium+ acidity. Raspberry and cranberry fruit, showing a bit of v.a. on the palate too. (my 7th, group's 8th)

January 15, 2012 - Popped and poured a glass and then put cork back and left in fridge for 2 days. Almost a clone of a prior bottle, with cherry and strawberry, earth, herbs, spice and oak. Good intensity and purity of flavors that are starting to show some age. Lightweight mouthfeel with lively acidity. Finish is medium+ and turns toward plum at the end. There was virtually no difference between the wine on th first day and the third day.

December 8, 2011 - Needs a LOT of time to come around. Keep in cellar for another 6+ years.
