September 16, 2020 - Deep color, nice nose, subtle spice. Nice mouthfeel, not too panic. Nice finish as well, well balanced, early in the drinking window.

February 3, 2019 - This is over the hill. Madeirized nose, nutty and pruny. Palate is still hanging on with good acidity and overall balance. Good fruit and substance but this should have been consumed. Maybe more air will help, will update if so.
I wouldn’t even auction this off.

April 14, 2018 - Still hanging in there, licorice, smoke, stewed prunes, delicious w grilled chimichurri steak.

March 6, 2018 - Strong bottle stink on the opening. Decanted for three hours and it blew off and improved. Shouldn't have waited this long. Interesting but tannins were gone and the fruit is fading. Drink Priorat younger

October 4, 2017 - This was definitely better 10 years ago. I was correct on my prior note: This will not age too long. Despite that, I decided to age it but I got here 5 years too late. Notes of raisins and prunes are already present. All tannins are gone. Sweetness and alcohol are pronounced. Not as enjoyable as my last bottle in 2007. Note to self: Grenache from warmer temperatures does not age like Cabernet or Pinot Noir from cooler climates. Something to keep in mind. If you have some, don't wait any longer. Time to drink up.

(MAS ROMANI LA BASSETA) #1; COLOR-very dark; NOSE-blackberry syrup, very New World; TASTE-loaded w/fruit jam initially, but not too over-the-top, taste the acidity & structure in mid-palate, enormous complexity on the mid-palate (earthy tones, black olive, green mustard sauce, jalapeno); finishing w/ silkiness, a ton of body weight, very intriguing; JR-94; GV-94
