Community Tasting Notes 9

April 16, 2017 - Color: Deep golden leading to lemon yellow & a clear meniscus.
Smell: Scents of honey & camomile tea dominate the nose
Taste: The palate unfolds with flavors of quince, pineapple, star fruit, and chalk.
Overall: This is quite lovely...why don't I buy these to age? Medium body, high acidity, and a long finish. Not really all that sweet, more mellow and elegant. What a treat! I'd gladly buy again.

June 24, 2016 - A private tasting (67 Pall Mall, London, UK): Tasted blind. Honeyed, delicately sweet, hint of dried apple, lively and juicy, subtle bitters, hint of chamomile, long and pure. Incredibly youthful at 57 years of age!

July 3, 2014 - Dark, rich, perfect balance, really fine and grand

July 1, 2013 - Champagne, Burgundy, and old Huët at the North End Grill (North End Grill, NYC): Darker in colour than the '24, coming across much richer and sweeter with a strong caramel/brown sugar aromatic element in between all the ripe Chenin fruit, honey, marmalade and wooly notes. The balance here is amazing, the acidity keeps it remarkably light on its feet and balances the sweetness superbly, and there's amazing persistence on the back end with savoury and honeyed elements unfolding long after each sip. Wow.

February 1, 2013 - Hard to put this one into words. It's so complex with layers of Chenin fruit and wooliness and more savoury, creamy and honeyed flavours all coming together seamlessly, and it's in that spot of maturity where the flavours all seem perfectly integrated into a whole, and it tastes exactly as it smells. The balance here is stunning with bright acids balancing the sweetness, a remarkably polished, almost weightless palate presence and tremendous length. What a wine.
