May 5, 2024 - Rasberry and plumb. Good acidity and went great with pizza. A big hit!
August 9, 2023 - Opened for 2.5 hours. Color is garnet. On the nose: Cinnamon, red and black berries, and some alcohol heat. On the palate: Red and blackberries, some cherry, a bit of plum and cinnamon. Some alcohol heat is coming through. OK.
January 13, 2023 - Some good fruit here. However the alcohol is not well integrated and feels like drinking a cocktail and not wine. Way too much heat. 84 points
On day 2 I like this much better. The alcohol is much better integrated. Some rich red berry fruits. Dark tannins that provide needed balance. Very nice finish. This still needs time.
December 16, 2022 - Drinking well and pretty delicious
November 10, 2022 - Solid zin, not lacking fruit, middle of the pack for Ridge.
November 1, 2022 - suave and elegant zin. tasty
October 6, 2022 - Pulled as the sacrificial bottle after truly enjoying the Pagani Zin first. No need to pull a great bottle when you know your palate isn’t as sharp, right? Burgundy from rim to core. The nose gives up some Zin funk, bramble berry, boysenberry, but it’s a bit sharp on the nose as well. The palate has some fruit but kicks over quickly to a finish of cinnamon. While the cinnamon is delightful, the hollowness of the mid-palate is more than disappointing. The overly acidic palate is joined with the out of balance heat of the alcohol. So, all in all, even for a Ponzo, of which I am not a fan, this is a disappointing showing. Given that the prior two bottles of this vintage over performed, I must conclude that this is an off bottle. A shadow of sediment from the neck and shoulder down the side of the bottle where it lay on its side. 14.7% alc. With pork barbeque from BBQ Exchange. 100622. Not Recommended.
September 17, 2022 - This is a delicious, full, smooth zinfandel. Full of dark berries and soft earth. Was by far the star of a 3-wine line up, that included Ridge Three Valleys 2019 and Marietta OVR Lot 73.
August 28, 2022 - Delicious and intense.
August 21, 2022 - Great wine. Definitely has a few more years left.
