November 21, 2023 - One of the best wines of the year. Deep harvest gold in the glass. Distinctly aged on the nose, but not over the hill. Honeysuckle and freshly baked sponge cake. Dry palate but not astringent. Those cake notes continue but quite saline and savoury. Medium sized gentle bubbles. So interesting yet easy to drink with a lingering finish. Just excellent.

June 24, 2022 - The essence of Riesling stripped to bone. Light floral notes on the nose. Dry white flowers, slate, wer stone with nice acidity. Opened and blossomed with air. Very nice wine.

December 27, 2021 - Golden amber Light and dry on the palate but not sharp, still lively. Mature flavours, not fruity, maybe honeysuckle?

November 19, 2021 - 2017 disgorge date. What a wine and showing well. Fine but great bubbles. Had the restaurant serve this in Chardonnay glasses and not chill the bottle in a champagne bucket but instead leave it on the table.

After 30 minutes of air, this baby was singing! Had the reductive petrol nose of a Riesling but a crisp and slightly sweet bite on initial sip. The finish lingered and kept changing with each sip and glass. It was too easy to finish the bottle.

Can’t think of too many other “wow, this is different” wines that really require thought and attention when you are drinking them. These are as much an experience as they are a good bottle of wine.

April 3, 2021 - Saturday hangout (socially distanced) (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Immediately identified as the 84 Lauer (one of the best blind calls I've ever made in my life). It's that dried longan note on this wine that makes it so distinctive. Anyway, the palate seems to be more disjoint than I remember it being, with an odd, browning sweetness on the attack and some really sharp acidity on the back end. More interesting than good.
