June 13, 2020 - Transparent rød med lilla/rosaskjær. Pnp. Helt åpen. Fantastisk flott og karismatisk nese med rød, krydret frukt med en utrolig flott eik. Hadde definitivt havnet i Vosne blindt her. Sinnsykt bra kons i munn. Sødmefull men behersket frukt, fantastisk krydet, sammenblandet med en nydelig friskhet. Smertefull balanse og lang lengde.

October 23, 2019 - Part of a 2016 DRC tasting, a vintage that impressed with how approachable it already was, purity, elegance and versatility. For me, the La Tâche scored best, followed by Richebourg and Romanée-Conti – although the latter may well surpass the La Tâche in the long run. Corton came in last. Montrachet, Échezeaux and Grands-Échezeaux were not produced commercially that year and older vintages offered instead.

A slightly sweeter, but also lighter fruit when compared to the others. Fresh herbal notes, but on average a bit too green. A slightly more narrow aromatic profile, but the sweetness was be alluring, almost sexy. Fewer dimensions on the palate with a less refined texture vs the others.

October 23, 2019 - DRC 2016 – what survived the frost: Intro: Another great vintage. At this early stage I slightly prefer the 2016s over the 2015s at the same point last year as the former show a bit more open and complex (due to a less dominant fruit core). Out of the 5 reds, the Richebourg is my #1 with its early charms and seductiveness. The La Tache is the most complex and shows a tad more open than the Romanee Conti, which is so dense and packed that it very likely will reach higher highs than all other wines. The RSV also boasts the fantastic structure and finesse without the incredible depth of the big 3.

TN: A splendid Pinot Noir which however pales in comparison to its siblings in terms of complexity, intensity, precision and length. It is easily worth the money the Domaine and first hand retailers/distributors are asking for, however, it’s not (even close) worth the hefty price tag on the secondary market. Lots of fresh herbs circling around a soft and sweet fruit core dominated by strawberries and sour cherries. This was quite accessible and drinking nicely. Beautiful soft structure with fine tannins and a medium+ acidity allowing for ageing. Good but without any exceptionalism.

June 28, 2019 - Dégustation Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Verticale 2016, avec Déjeuner (1243 Bourgogne Society - Beaune): Sit-down tasting with Aubert of the 2016 lineup. Very ripe black berry and cherry aromas with baking spice. Slightly leaner flavors still showcasing lack fruits, but with intense savory spice. Sneaky tannins give this a very Corton-like structure but in the most elegant fashion to start, then firming up middle through finish. Good+ weight. This might seem accessible, but I don't think it really will be within another 6-12 months.

June 28, 2017 - DRC visit. Exuberant and rich, with slightly medicinal feel.
