March 4, 2024 - First time trying a CLB La Rom, a once in a lifetime kind of wine courtesy of a very generous friend. Strawberry cream. A deluge of unstoppable layers upon layers of strawberries that protrudes without ceasing. Linear, persistent strawberries w/ pinching acidity n spices. The level of focus on this wine simply commands respect. This bottle continued to soar over the 5+ hours lunch, never showing any sign of declining.

December 11, 2022 - An immense wine and clearly hands off still but privilege to try this with friends. Starts out reductive and plays it close to its vest at first but once it draws air it’s mighty potential becomes apparent. Not as brooding after all from what one might expect it comes with bags of dark berry fruit attacks thst today is still slightly monolithic but surely in 10 years + when the great terroir shall express itself it will be an utter beauty. Potential for a perfect wine then. 98++

May 4, 2018 - Great complexity, finesse, depth and clarity. You get notes of pomegranate, aniseed, cherry and mineral. The palate has a creaminess to it but you feel every rocky bump of the wine. It is silky, voluminous and ethereal, with great mineral drive and a finish that really fans out. Brilliant!

June 28, 2017 - LB visit. Very aromatic, floral. Still fizzy from barrel. This danced and you'd pay for another. Can't wait to try again.

June 26, 2017 - Winos' excellent adventure in France; 6/22/2017-6/27/2017 (All over France): Extremely concentrated nose displaying hedonistic black fruits with a hint of raspberry, ink, sap, liquid smoked meat, lavender, espresso and mineral. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of opulent yet pure black fruits, perfect amount of acidity, strong mineral presence and the tannins are masked by the opulent fruit. The purity and precision is like the Reignots but the scale and concentration are much greater. This will be a monumental wine.
