May 27, 2019 - This is ridiculously good, there is an aboundence of dark berries but not over the top, some warm spices and earthy tones in support, medium acidity but still never close to cloying in texture, amazing freshness and length

May 23, 2019 - 2016 CdP (and some other wines over dinner) (NY Racquet and Tennis Club): Clear number one for the group and I'll say probably for me as well. This is what the best CdP should be like. It's not shy with the fruit - all up there in a darker more blackberry style which surprised me. And there's a hint of sweetness to it. More ripe than some of the earlier ones. But also this great freshness in the wine. It's moderate bodied. There's balance. Decent amount of tannin at the moment, but it doesn't detract from the wine. It's actually drinking nicely now although I suspect I'd like it a lot better with some age. Clearly well constructed. Mostly Grenache (the quote I heard was winemaker thinks of Syrah and Mouvedre as 'salt and pepper' - for flavoring only but should not dominate the blend). I liked this producer a lot when we visited a few years ago and nice to see that it does stand up quite well compared to brethren.

May 4, 2019 - Clos Des Papes 2015 vs. 2016: Sensational nose of tea, bitter chocolate. Where the 15 coats the palate, this floats through with in a taut, ethereal fashion. Less approachable and tighter today than the 15 with harder tannins and a grittier, grungier profile. Steelier, sharper, fresher. Most certainly all there though with a concentration of red and black black berries and enough acidity to carry the weight. Great stuff.

April 20, 2019 - Clos des Papes Vertical: A few conclusions: 1) The wines showed consistently on a good to very good level. 2) The wines have great ageing potential - the 1975 was still singing. 3) If you like almost port wine like ripeness (and high alcohol) you find great wines in the 2000s, for my palate this is just too much (the 2007 vintage with 100 points from the Parker team got a pretty low score from me). 4) More recent vintages show less ripeness, more balance and elegance (although less so in really hot years like in 2015). 5) The 2016 is exceptionally good. Definitely a must buy. Probably the most promising CDP I've had so far. 6) Clos des Papes offers good value for money.

TN: Loads of dark and blue forest berries, cherries, only hints of red fruit, sweet but still made in a fresh and cool style. Very good intensity, precision, very harmonious and balanced. A wall of noticeable but very smooth tannins, super fresh acidity. At times wild but overall already a big treat to drink. Very long dark fruit driven finish. Quite singular wine with a fruit expression and style I've never found in a CDP. Reminiscent of a Bordeaux. Not decanted, good from the go but improving with time. One or the other hour in the decanter might do good things.

February 24, 2019 - Brings perfection to this style. Massive and elegant. Better than the 2012 tasted the week before, i can’t imagine what this wine will brought up in 5+ years. 99.5%.
