September 21, 2019 - Winebar [1 Rosé, 3 Whites, 8 Reds, & 6 *shared* bottles] from 09/20/19 (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): Dan, THANK you for sharing yet another of the sensational wines you "scored"! ;)

    14.8% ABV & 0.63 g/100 mL T.A.; 1,260 cases produced.

N: Slightly closed; Intriguing melding of earth, blk cherries, forest floor, & toast -- in no particular order

P: LM body; Very NICE, NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by a bit of astringent pucker which never even remotely loses contact with the init frt as it fairly seamlessly evolves into a quite LONG, BALANCED finish with an elegant swtness to the unoffensive, dusty tannins. IMPRESSIVE stuff for now & at least through its 20th, being able to accompany food for ALL of that! My EXC+/Exceptional- (94-97/100 using that metric). 93 pts ea Tanzer & WE (3/1/05) + 1 of their Top 100 Wines for '05 @ $30.

July 19, 2013 - Thin and losing structure and acidity but quite drinkable especially with spicier foods. No signs oxidation experienced with other Ravenswoods of this and similar vintages.

November 17, 2012 - Decanted briefly... then enjoyed. Remakably soft and smooth for a single vineyared zin. Almost PN-like in the soft balance between fruit and acidity.... but darker fruit flavors. Steady finish. Would have rated it higher, based on enjoyment... but since it was less zin-like, someone expecting that might be less delighted.

June 18, 2008 - Medium ruby and starting to show some brick. Powerful nose of licorice, cherry, cinnamon and nutmeg spice., American oak, and alcohol. Huge body, gripping tannins, medium acidity. Despite the weight, the flavors are delicate and lively. Strawberry, mocha, black pepper, eucalyptus. Really drinking well now and has some life left. Very long on finish. You don't have to be an oak-lover for this, but it helps. (4+13+17+8) = 92

January 12, 2008 - Cherry and raspberry nose. More of same on palate with good acidity, some cool slatey mineral notes mid palate to finish and a touch of vanilla. Excellent.
