October 15, 2021 - Dark plum, rather jammy at this point. Not as tannic now with some minerality. This was better last year and I fear it aged a bit too long.

October 26, 2020 - Rich dense black cherry. String tannins and minerality on finish. Powerful but restrained fruit.

April 3, 2020 - Wasn't crazy about this one -- leather, charcoal, no fruit -- debated whether it was flawed or badly stored at the retail store..

March 20, 2020 - Full and rich nose with dark plum, cedar wood and vanilla notes. Sweet and elegant flavor. On the palate then the wine is full bodied with very silky tannis. Missing these tannins as well as a the acidity which would structure the wine a bit more. Overall it tasts relatively sweet which you have to enjoy of course. A medium to long finish with a little bit of an alcoholic touch.

June 9, 2018 - Reds from S. France (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): 70% Grenache & 30% Syrah from vines ave 60 yrs of age, per the producer's pg; "The harvest is later, it gives the grapes an advanced maturity, giving them a soft texture with a finely sweet finish. Our idea is to be able to obtain a wine of the "Ripasso" style." [Google trans]

N: Slightly closed; Smoke, berries, poss garigue?

P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE, almost swtish frt which maintains its frt despite being met by puckerish astringency which (fairly seamlessly?) transitions into the LONG, OCCASIONALLY very, VERY slightly bitter finish with a decided swtness to the very, VERY fine tannins. DESERVES another yr of cellaring, then drinking for 3+ yrs more. My VG+/EXC-. 91-93 pts WA. [This vendor's $13.95 puts it in the top 10% of wine-searcher's listings.]

Note: On 7/8/2017 I probably detected more swtness.

April 29, 2018 - Walk around wine store tasting of Domaine Lafage wines. Small glass, tasting pour.
First time I have had this offering. Surprising depth and complexity, expertly balanced fruit and acidity, with a long finish. Did pick up a bottle. My favorite of the tasting.
