June 5, 2021 - The wine was pale tawny at the core and orangey at the rim. The viscosity was low, no sediment and alcohol was 13.5 %
On the nose there was a yeasty smell although the wine was in good condition. The bouquets were of cranberry, sour cherry, almonds and moss. The intensity was low.
On the palate the taste was underwhelming with a short finish. The tannins and alcohol were low and the acid medium. The body was light and generally mellow. I tasted iron, leather, and cranberry.
This is akin to a table wine. I would not buy it again. It paired well with a cheese and meat charcuterie platter. I do not think this wine will improve with age.

    April 22, 2021 - PnP, consumed over 2 hours.

Beautiful light rusty brick red colour. Very light in appearance, if not for the slight orange, one would almost guess Pinot Noir.

Sharp minerality on the nose. Concrete & oak, green leaf, young leather round it out. Very little fruit to give it away.

Light, very elegant mouthfeel. Medium+ acid, present but softened tannin. Very nicely packaged, good harmony in the bottle, however missing fruit at this point in its life.

Overall a very nice light-bodied wine that would have gone excellently with good quality Neapolitan pizza, or roast pork. Good QPR, will wait another 1-2 years before opening the next bottle, but tasty now.

July 28, 2020 - I liked it. Not much fruit but nice old world earthiness. It’s aged a bit faster than I would have expected. Already orange at rim.

May 4, 2020 - Extremely woodsy; strawberry/cherry, roots and bark and spices. Some oak is lingering... and with Avignonesi I also always get a hint of balsamic.

Light of body and opacity, but not of flavor.

January 7, 2020 - Sangiovese - Very light floral flavor, bland taste of strawberries. Not much mid-pallete. Very short finish. Reminds me of a light pinot noir. Very light/smooth tannins. Light and clear in the glass. Feels a bit unsatisfying (leaves me wanting something stronger/darker/richer). Had with roasted turkey and roasted chicken.

September 21, 2019 - WAID Noble Italian Reds (What Am I Drinking?! Bryn Mawr, PA): Disappointing, as I expect great things from Avignonesi. A stemmy, green note dominates. Improves a bit with air but not enough.

September 10, 2019 - Really ripe bouquet. On viewing this wine I must say that it is so transparent that it makes me think it is a Pinot Noir. It has a berry richness with spices that shut down fruit at the mid palette. Clearly meant to Age this wine is worthy of some cellar and bottle age.
