August 23, 2021 - Reached back in the cellar and what the heck is this still doing in there?
A touch of nuttiness on pop n pour but it didn't last. Melon and quince greet the nose and palate. Round texture. ample acidity, still a real fun wine. Extra bonus of some protein floaters so we poured slowly. I hope that if things get back to normal in the next few years Hardy gets to make these again.
June 13, 2021 - Deep yellow color. Melon, yellow apple. Nose was great and the wine was delicious. Palate wasn’t that vibrant. Most of the acid has gone out of this wine so I wouldn’t recommend with food. However it is great by itself.
November 21, 2020 - This was an interesting wine. I thought would be seeet, but was dry. Very yellow in color. Nice acid and medium bodied. Went great with Grant Park pizza from Buddyz!
February 29, 2020 - melon, lemon and other Citrus. Stone on the finish. 12.3% Rich and flavorful. Delightful on a hot afternoon.
October 12, 2019 - Softer, richer, more complete wine this bottle. Still trends toward melon profile, but this wine has improved with another year. Rich, luscious and smooth. Pairs best with the right food, but can also enjoyable on its own.
September 7, 2019 - Hardy Wallace makes Familiar Blanc from a mixed bag of his best whites. So much I love. Stripped and oxidized just right - light brass. Salty tangerine butterscotch, bruised apple, apricot.
July 25, 2019 - Enjoyable white with very interesting flavor profile that is different and fun to drink. Huge improvement over the 2015.
October 11, 2018 - Brief note from memory. Off the list at Frenchie Covent Garden. The texture of this wine is what stands out in memory, sort of like a pulped juice, but not that severe. Totally fresh and well balanced, flavors were in the citrus family (grapefruit, lemon, some rind). Later bought a bunch to share with friends.
September 14, 2018 - nice easy drinking white wine..more full bodied on the 2nd day..finished a tad sweet.
September 1, 2018 - More steely / mineral this time, with an herbal bite that reminds me of a dry French vermouth. A touch of quinine character even? Still a strong hit of Cal chard on the nose, but then it’s a delightful chameleon.
