May 27, 2023 - Interesting bright fruity aromas that suggest, but do not actually smell like, citrus--orange or tangerine. Not surprisingly there is lots of upfront fruit--blackberry stands out. Also, there is a suggestion of cola. Tar/charcoal sensation under the rear palate. Tannin appears to be reduced but still noticeable.

March 5, 2023 - Opened this hours ahead of time anticipating it needing air but, nope, not necessary, so put the cork back in for later.
Really smooth from the get go. Dark fruit, black cherry, plush and velvety mouthfeel.
It held together beautifully until the last glass of the evening when it started feeling a bit extracted. So this experience indicates a PnP and consume within a few hours.
Additionally, this complemented the New York Strips perfectly.
Felt like we got this at its' peak.

September 11, 2022 - Shared with my wine group at a steakhouse. Opened, but not decanted for over an hour before serving. Nice, but the 2013 Delille Four Flags was better.

June 19, 2022 - Beautiful dark fruit on the nose. Blue fruit, a touch of black cherry, cassis, baking spices and fine tannins. Excellent mid palate feel, with nice structure and a long smooth finish. A really impressive wine. My daughter’s WOTY so far.

January 30, 2022 - Terrible. Bitter on the finish, fruit wasn’t where it should’ve been. Explains why secondary on these reserve bottlings have been so low. It’s just not great wine.

July 7, 2021 - I’ll start off by saying that I need to be patient with certain wines, in practically every case wine shows improvement with air/ decanting. The 2015 Becklyn is that kind of wine. This is a wine that is constructed to age, more like a European red wine. This is a wine that shows its real quality with proper decanting and bottle time. Although not vastly different from the last bottle, I did enjoy this one unfortunately after 2 days of air. Great color, inky dark purple that trends to dark red nearing the meniscus. Palate wise there’s dark blue and blackberry fruit, tart dark cherry, currants and tart dry cranberry flavors. Tannins are noticeable and there’s oak notes to this Cab. This is a full-bodied wine with nice fruit purity, concentration and structured. Although not my preferred style, this wine is really nice one if you have patience and it’s an better experience with a nice steak meal. 93+/ 94 Points.

October 17, 2020 - Deep purplish ruby red. Layered nose coated in anise, black currants, cherries and some baking spices. Medium tannins (6/10) with a medium plus body. A bit young on the palate with some black spices, dark cherries, plums, cinnamon and a hint of earth. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2038.

April 28, 2020 - Dark inky purple red color with a nose of mild violets. On the palate, dark berry fruit (black, blue and cranberries), tart black cherry, and currents. The wine is tannic, shows oak essence, has some acidity and viscosity palate wise. This vintage is full-bodied, showing good fruit purity, concentration and structured. This was a pop and pour night and based on previous experiences with this wine has shown well in its early youth, but it shuts down pretty quickly. I decides that after five years in the bottle, it’s time to give it a go. To my surprise it was pretty good, it’s on a pretty nice path and open for business. I had stopped purchasing this label after the first few vintages because it would start out showing nicely only to take a serious detour and shuts down. Apparently, this is a wine that needs bottle age to develop. For maximum satisfaction this wine shows better with decanting before consumption. It did improve with time and it shows better on day two. Becklyn Moulds Reserve will be included in my 2018 Becklyn order, I just need to give it time. 93-94 Points.
