February 28, 2020 - Drinking a little red forward but nice acidity. I get the sense this is picked at lower brix. Fruit doesn’t seem really developed. That said the acidity is bright and I love the 13.5% alcohol with an interesting mix of Syrah, Sangiovese and Merlot (which comes from a different vineyard). This wine continues to evolve and develop.

August 19, 2019 - Drinking well now. I’m not sure she will benefit the wine but drinking well as a pop and pour with medium weight and balance from nose to mid palate.

September 26, 2018 - Drinking nicely as a PnP. Initially the nose is more saturated than the palate, which needed about 30 minutes in the glass to open. At this age, this wine is still quite primal but the cooperage provides some cigar box and shoe leather oil on the nose and even a touch in the bridge between the palate and finish. Interesting, I’m not sure what element of the vinticulurral process drives that profile.

Interesting the terroir feels light. I’m not getting much minerality. Also, this wine registers as a low Brix Syrah but it also picks up Merlot which may account for the mid palate weight and “sweet red fruit” but this also has Sangiovese. Where? I wouldn’t have picked that.

July 15, 2017 - This is an amazing QPR!! Much more than a table wine, the Frasca basically gets the fruit that doesn't make it into the Varramista first wine. It is

    60% Sangiovese
    20% Syrah
    20% merlot

Lovely wine with layers of flavor. The '13 is young but will age gracefully for 7-8 years I think. Big fruit against a tight tannic backbone at this age with underpinning terroir.
