Community Tasting Notes 7

September 7, 2022 - Valenciso Masterclass with Diego Santana (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Smells more mineral than the 2015 and more savoury, slightly gamey underpin to the red and black fruits but still quite primary, slight tobacco leaf. Medium plus intensity acidity, tannins are slightly drying, persistent, talc textured tannins, alcohol lends a little peppery spice on the finish. Rather nice.

October 29, 2021 - 14.5% alc showing a mid crimson colour with lifted aromas of red cocktail cherries, red plum and orange rind along with vanilla & cinnamon spice, cherry compote, and ristretto (foam?) coffee (Ethiopian?). There is a slight herb element like dried mint or dried leaves?
The entry is fresh and cool with juicy ripe berries, delicate toasted notes and bing cherries along with sweet spice abd undercut by a tight fresh acidity and a hint of mint. Medium-bodied, there is a distinct zesty orange (ripe) feel with cherry and red plum compote, and some spiced oranges on the long finish. A well-poised, elegant wine with depth fo flavour and great concentration. The tannins are dense and powdery giving winderful structure yet in tandem displaying that mineral freshness and tug along with a cayenne spice.

September 19, 2020 - At La Coccina, Casa, Chesterfield. £45 off the list. No formal note but this was attractive with red and black berry fruit, vanilla, spice, medium bodied, soft tannins, still quite youthful, attractive pure fruit, vibrant acidity, very good length harmonious finish.

December 8, 2019 - Very consistent performance through the years. Medium+ to full bodied, somewhat tannic, black+blueberries, vanilla, balsamic, tobacco, menthol, a bit of sweet pepper. Good QPR.
