January 21, 2024 - PnP first night then tasted again the next night. Mesquite (less noticeable night 2), red licorice, mineral, pepper and a mix of olive and salinity reminiscent of olive brine. More enjoyable the first night for me.

November 28, 2023 - Scored WOTN matched against 9 WA Syrahs at CT Seattle offline blind tasting. Barnyard but clean, cranberry finish. Low/medium acid, long finish, balanced. Possibly at peak - rocks perfection!

November 19, 2023 - This is coming into its own and is a great spot. I’ve had enough Reynvaan’s to know how great they are on day 2, but this was a joy on day 1. Day 2 wasn’t plausible. The alluvial elements have settled into the smoky fruit profile. It has a fun mid-palate Maldon salt pop with a dash of white pepper, but there’s a nice resolve of tar, fig and plum on the finish. Love what Matt & team are doing with these bottles.

October 19, 2023 - PnP, tasted over two hours then again the following night. Hot road tar, wet stone, smoked meat, olive the first night, all of which was more subdued night#2 but with added notes of blueberry and bay leaf. Drinking well. A delicious wine.

October 7, 2023 - Popped and poured. This is a ruby red wine. On the nose, I get some brine, beef jerky, and cracked pepper. In the mouth, this is initially savory but folds into some sweet black fruits. The finish displays salt, funk, and black olive. Overall, this is a nice wine that is more restrained than a lot of Walla Walla Syrahs. 92 points.

(Reynvaan Family Vineyards Syrah In The Rocks) Shipping UPDATE: As temperatures begin to cool down across the country, our fall shipping window will be coming to a close. In most years, we’re finished with shipping for the better part of the country by December 1. If you have not received your wine and feel like this is a mistake, please let us know. If you have any special requests for the remainder of the fall shipping window, now is the time to send them our way. --- Hello friends. Turning this one around very quickly, as I just learned we have access to (barely) big enough parcels of a pair of main-label Reynvaan wines. The last time we offered a true Reynvaan wine? I had to dig through the archives: August 24, 2012. Hopefully that underscores how difficult these wines have become to source in any meaningful quantity, and why I’m going to ask you to submit order requests quickly. How quickly? Well, I’d like to place our order on Monday around noon, so that should give everyone about 24 hours. We’ll try to build in a buffer for latecomer orders, but no promises. I should also say: I don’t know why we have access to these two wines today. If you think I spent time asking for a reason instead of beginning work on writing up this offer, you don’t know me. What matters isn’t the why; what matters is the what. And the what is the new release of In The Rocks, always my favorite of the trio of Syrahs that started it all for Reynvaan (Unnamed and Contender being the other two). In The Rocks is also arguably the wine that wine that burnished Reynvaan’s legacy as a cult Washington producer, when it snagged a 97pt review and the #13 spot on Wine Spectator’s 2016 Top 100 list for the 2013 vintage. I haven’t sampled this vintage, but you can check out that archived offer from 2012 for notes on In The Rocks specifically, or Reynvaan generally. ITR always contains a Viognier coferment, and this year it’s 4%. Expect soaring floral topnotes to go with the usual savory pastiche of green olives and seaweed and smoked meats galore.
