Community Tasting Notes 4

January 3, 2020 - It smells quite floral with underlying citrus and a touch of sweetness. That touch of sweetness is there on the palate too, although not enough for this to be considered anything other than dry. There is a strong line of acidity and some green apple that comes through as well. Very satisfying to drink now but no reason why it wouldn't age too

May 4, 2018 - Dinner at Chairman and Yip (Chairman and Yip, Barton, Canberra): The appearance is clear and pale lemon in colour. Tears are visible.

The nose is clean with medium intensity aromas. There are well-defined aromas of citrus fruit (lemon, subtle lime), a floral character (chamomile), and mineral (slate). The wine is youthful.

On the palate, the wine is dry (I’m thinking ~5g/L of RS) with medium(+) acidity, medium alcohol, and medium(-) body. The flavours have a medium intensity and show notes of citrus (lemon, lime), mineral (slate), and a floral character (subtle chamomile). The finish has a medium(+) length.

This is a very good quality wine. The flavours are concentrated and have an amazing balance with the alcohol and the acidity. There is a little residual sugar (not enough to call it ‘off-dry’) that adds a bit of body to the mouthfeel. In its current state, the wine shows primary and secondary characteristics. The wine is very enjoyable and has a finish with great length.

The wine drinks well now, but has potential for ageing. The fruit intensity is great, and the acid structure will support the wine as tertiary notes develop.

May 1, 2018 - Ravensworth with Bryan Martin (Love Tilly Devine): Lime over peach, clean, mineral. Sharply juicy - to the point of sourness, a little alcohol warmth, more citrus here than peach. Nah.

September 1, 2017 - Green apple, citrus, talc and mineral. Zesty acidity. Will cellar well but hard to keep the hands off.
