November 3, 2023 - Very ripe, slightly cooked and very smoky nose. Attractive, very pure dark cherry fruit, graphite.
Pure ripe black cherry fruit on the palate, nice purity, fresh acidity, just feels a bit over-extracted, and too much toast from the oak.
There’s a really lovely wine in here with just too much winemaking on top.

May 10, 2022 - Chambolle 1er dinner: Very seductive and opulent nose that just lingered on forever, best aromatics by far out of all the wines. Palate was quite earthy and powerful which reminded me of Gevrey rather than Chambolle. It had cool blue fruits at the forefront rather than red which made me guess 2000/01 instead of 02 but someone managed to nail the vintage correctly. Winemaking from a different era, this would have been a bruiser in its youth I suspect, but it is seamlessly integrated now. Fantastic.

June 7, 2021 - An absolutely enchanting nose (one of the best of 2021 so far) of Burgundy’s magic and seduction. To attempt to capture the elegance and grace and intensity in words is hard for me on this wine. Practically no swirling is necessary to pick up on citrus/orange Cognac violet, green tea complexities of mineral, Worcestershire sauce, umami notes that are tender, weightless and very authoritative at the same time. The tannins are among the finest one can imagine. Assumed it was a Grand Cru and definitely performs that way. One of the most expressive (aromatically) 2002 Burgs I have had in a while. On form and what a pleasure!!!95+

June 6, 2021 - Super classic young burgundy with rich dark fruit, spice box, a tad poopy, high notes of orange zest; very rich, round and balanced with ample integrated acidity which carried things through a hauntingly long finish. 93+

October 22, 2018 - A beguilingly complex and alluring nose I can remember a day later: Pinot fruit, violet, caramel-ly brown spice, and a hint of sous bois and oak. The palate follows logically from the nose with sweet cherry and blueberry alongside lifted florals and a line of minerality from first sip to finish. Nicely balanced, with everything in its place, with a lovely transparency and lightness that give lie to any corresponding lack of depth as this has impressive intensity and persistence. The 2002 Les Amoureuses is excellent and easily the finest Groffier I have ever enjoyed. Perfect now.

April 17, 2018 - At Acker's Wine Workshop Chambolle-Musigny Terroir Tasting at the Michaelangelo NY. Now we're talking. Haunting perfume. Red fruit, caramel, wood. Stunning. 94+

April 11, 2018 - I really enjoyed this. It is in a good place now but clearly can go several more years. Smokey and sweet, good depth of savory tones balancing it out the red fruit. Many at the tasting commented that this didn't really give an impression of the true of terroir of Amoureuses. That may be true, but I would love to drink this wine any day.

April 10, 2018 - This is a huge nose that is notably different from any of the other Chambolles tonight (including an ‘08 Drouhin Amoureuses) in that is has considerable earth influence and a bit of wild animal character to the light strawberry and red cherry fruit. This is very sexy and inviting. Palate is both sweet and savoury but is slightly less exciting than the fantastic nose promises. The ripeness and maturity of the fruit suggests this is actually near peak performance.
