    November 28, 2023 - Not blind, Magnum
Perfect to pasta and truffle. Earthy, dark cherries, tar and violet. Tannins getting softer and well integrated. 94-95

May 27, 2022 - Typical barolo profile. Still young.

February 3, 2018 - 2018 Festa del Barolo AM seminar

Ferrous and stony. This is dark fruited side of nebbiolo with a little leather, herbs, in the background. Savory and mineral more than fruit driven (meant in a good way). Tar, soil, and savory, it finishes long with some green olives, balsamic notes on the back end. Powerful yet with great balance, this is expansive on the palate, and very impressive. Take this with a grain of salt, and forgive the generalization, as I am someone who in general dislikes '12 more than the average person. This is outstanding wine, but just seems to be missing a little harmony to bring it all together into great. Still an outstanding wine that held its own in a tough company, and a terrific wine for the vintage. 93

February 3, 2018 - 2013 Barolo: Sublime Finesse & Elegance Tasting, La Festa del Barolo (Del Posto Restaurant, NYC): The only 2012 in this tasting. Roagna bottles a year later than almost everyone else. Ripe black fruit nose. Big but with plenty finesse. Stunningly expansive. In the running for wine of the vintage. Luca is definitely raising the bar here, and it was already pretty high. 95-97

February 3, 2018 - La Festa del Barolo Master Class Tasting (Del Posto): The nose was dark-earthy yet also so pretty and floral, showing black cherry tones, as sweet balsamic spices emerged, along with notes of moist soil, crushed stone and wild herbs. On the palate, I found soft, feminine textures with saline-minerality up front as hints of pure cherry and inner rose came forward, yet I found myself caving more toward the middle. The finish was long with hints of fine tannin lingering along with pretty red berry and inner floral tones. It’s a wine of contrasts as it’s remarkably pure and understated, yet layered, just showing a hint of the complexities that will develop over time.
