March 10, 2023 - With this bottle I have more luck than last time: very elegant and complex wine

February 11, 2023 - I do not know what was wrong with this bottle, but everyone in the round was very disappointed, no drinking pleasure at all, maximum 88 points. I recently had the 2016 Bürgstadter Berg from Fürst, which was excellent. I am somewhat at a loss

January 21, 2022 - It was nice but unlike other vintages it had a unusual bitter afternote at the finish which seemed almost like a flaw

December 22, 2021 - Annual Xmas Lunch (incl. Yquem 01): Tasted double blind. We tasted this alongside two more Burgundian styled 2015s Pinots and the Fürst handily won the race thanks to the most mature aroma profile and roundness, ahead of the Charlopin Mazis Chambertin (rated 95) and the Swiss Pinot from Studach (rated 92) which both were less open and ready. The complexity of the wines is on a Grand Cru level without doubt and it also shows the finesse of a great Burgundy Pinot. The only slight concern is that at 6 years, it already shows considerable tertiary aromatics which might not be the best sign for long-term ageing potential.

TN: Very intense, expressive sexy red fruit, herbs, vegetal aromas, tobacco, stems on the nose and palate. Intense, precise, perfectly round and sexy. Very well structured with fine tannins, a high and perfectly integrated acidity, slightly creamy texture and weightless feel. Good, long finish full of red fruit and earthy notes. This is superbly balanced and harmonious.

Decanting: Doesn’t need extensive decanting. Good from the go.

December 14, 2021 - Refined red berry with the finest herbal seasoning I ever had with fresh herbs and dill, actually a pretty vegetal profile overall, but also mineral and smoke dimensions as well as dry earth. Light, fruity and nicely linear palate. Puristic with a long finish. Once again an outstanding German Pinot, competing head to head with the likes of Huber, Becker and Keller. Tasted in a mini vintage horizontal along with Studach and Charlopin-Parizot Mazis and the distinguishing feature here was clearly the highly attractive lyers of spice and herbs. Against the Burgundy this one couldn‘t quite match the elegance and refinement.

August 24, 2021 - Drunk with roast stuffed rabbit. Bright deep ruby up to the rim. Nose and palate full of blackcurrants and truffle. Tannins present but not harsh. Good balance and lovely length. Very enjoyable. It will be interesting to see where this goes as it is drinking really well already - will there be evolution to greater complexity or will it gradually start to fade after another 5-10 years?

October 30, 2019 - Åben Coravin. Ren rød - lidt slikket - frugt. Dyb med noter af røg, våd jord, grønne krydderurter og kanel. Mindre udtalt fad end sidst.

May 7, 2018 - 375ml at Das Weinhaus, Trier, Germany. This restaurant has very impressive wine list at reasonable pricing, highly recommended by two of the wine producers we met today. Very floral with touch of woods on the nose (in a good way). Dark fruits, decent acidity and fine tannins. After 30 mins of air, showing good complexity and roundness, fairly long finish with a touch warmth at backend. ABV 13.5%. Good concentration and depth. Delicious bottle with upside. Convincing enough for me to oder a mixed case of '15 Furst Pinot Noirs GG which include 4 bottles of this. Fairly priced for the quality without hype.
