March 20, 2024 - Settled down nicely now. Really interesting interplay between buttermilk and fresh lemon. Big wine that commands attention. Good both with and without food.

November 10, 2023 - I get the sour milk note! Sharp lemon, coconuty oak. The oak is more integrated than my last bottle but it's still lithe. More concentration than texture. Nice for broaching but personally I have twelve and wish I had one or two more since. Saying that's its going to last a bit. There is a lot of "winemaking" going on here.

    February 22, 2023 - Open 12hrs

Concentrated an minerally for sure, but lacking the fruity charm of the Coddington. This smells and tastes like so many other chardonnays out there - slightly sour, like milk that's on the turn. I don't think there's actually anything wrong with it but like the Hunting Hill, it's just not much fun.

September 2, 2022 - Champagne & Chardonnay WIMPS, September 2022 (La Trompette, London): Very summer fruit and flowers forward with obvious vanilla oak throughout. Was interesting reading some comments below of how this wine was close to a Burgundian style. We thought the bottle we had was a good example of new world chardonnay.

July 9, 2022 - I found this in the drink fridge at my holiday home. Already been opened and one glass gone. Who did that? Anyway I tried it after probably opened for 2 weeks. Still tasting great. Plenty of wood and honey. No acidic flavours that I expected.

May 10, 2022 - Chambolle 1er dinner: Others liked this a lot more than I did and they thought it to be quite Burg-like. I was actually struggling to place this in Burgundy and it made sense when revealed as I have never liked this producer’s wines much. Ripe fruit bordering on tropical and oak use that was quite protrusive, but puzzlingly still rather green on the palate.

    Tasted non blind.

Light yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of matchstick, tangerine and soaked yellow pears. Flavors of lemon, lime, peach and apricot pit. Medium to bright acidity, medium to full bodied. Drink now.

July 7, 2021 - On the richer spectrum of chardonnay. Not buttery, but ripe - you get that on the nose and in the mouth. Not as much tension as I would hope. Think this saw oak, but in moderate amounts. A good wine, but I think I prefer the "less premium" bottlings from this winery (Hunting Hill, Coddington and even the estate).

May 1, 2021 - Golden straw colour. Nose of butter, mushroom and biscuits. Star bright acidity, develops some tropical fruit and peach notes. A fair amount of oak still. Young, needs more time but very good. Drank next to. 2018 JL Chavy Pulingy Montrachet and held up very well against.it.
