    January 5, 2020 - 5 hour decant.

December 31, 2019 - This wine could have stayed longer in the decanter, but everyone wanted more, right away! No matter, it was the roundest, deepest, yet truly characteristic Bordeaux I've enjoyed in a while. Huge aromas of black cherries, cassis, smoke, and pencil shavings. Such a satisfying taste: red and black fruit, more of those graphite notes, tobacco, over-toasted country bread. My only complaint may be the finish: a tad dry, yes, and not opulent enough considering the vintage. Delicious with a NYE roast beef. One of my guests had politely complained ahead of time that the red wines (cabs, Bordeaux) I serve are too big and tannic, so I also provided a plush CA pinot, but she tasted both and pronounced she "even" liked the Cos. Score!

December 15, 2019 - Tobacco, Sandalwood, graphite, medium body, blackberry undertones, very well balanced, lovely Cos.

4 hour decant prior to SS Golf Kauai 2019 Xmas Dinner Party at Ruth's Chris. Tasted up to departure as the flavors opened up. It just kept getting better and better. Next time I'll open it up at 8AM and decant, taste and re-bottle at it's maximum pleasure.

December 15, 2019 - Rich, silky smooth and earthy, in a good place now with seamless meld of dark berry, glycerine and cassis and a memorable coffee overtone on the long finish. Drink now-2025.

December 7, 2019 - Dense and rather closed for business. This needs more time to shine.

Rockss and Fruit

(Cos d'Estournel) Cocoa, raspberry liquor and complex mineral tones on the nose. Lush and glyceril with dense, silky primary fruit. Black fruits with a red streak. Pretty elegant and does a little mambo on the palate. Super concentrated but done in a kind of "spoofilated" new-world style. Very different and less traditional than the '95 Cos the other week. I still liked it
