May 27, 2022 - Dark ruby. Pronounced nose of cherry and blackberry with an intriguing hint of violet. Dry with medium + acidity. Medium tannins - pleasant but not overpowering. Crazy delicious complexity. Red and black fruit immediately announce themselves on the palate, and I thought we might be in for a fruit bomb. It quickly gave way to a host of secondary flavors. Between us we found leather, tobacco, earth, meat. Others said coffee or chocolate. With time, a sublime hint of Vanilla emerged. For us, all hints of pepper were gone, but we didn't miss it. This is delightful right now, and we're tempted to go all in on the rest of our bottles, but I suspect everything will soften just a bit in the next year or two. It could very well last several more years, but the prospect of it losing all its fruit isn't my thing, so I will err on the early side the rest of the way.
