August 12, 2022 - I am quite convinced that Dolcetto is in my top five of favorite wine grapes.

This particular expression took hours to open up. After decant there was left a few ounces of sedimented juice left in bottle, that was very much enjoyed.

At first, the palate held dense cherries, tars, black ripe earthen cherries with rich plums, earthen and tarry with herbs of complexity: Simply delicious.

After 1.5 hours it was rich, big, taught, dense but really came forward with lamb pairing. I pan seared lamb chops from Australia to reveal such a beautiful juice to reveal tobacco, more density of tars, depths of volcanic substance, yet fresh and perfectly balanced with acid to cut the fat.

Despite all of the palate enjoyment, the best was the feeling of spirit in my body. This took hold and really opened my creative spiritual nature. This is what all wine deserve to represent to the soul, to awaken to oneself and reveal the peace and joy of the heart.

Thank you Marie Theresa for creating this beauty!
    It's truly art.

July 4, 2022 - I am very pleased with this. Bright ruby highlights, rich red fruits - cherry, cranberry - with some orange peel and anise. Something smoky/earthy as well. Fine tannins and good structure. This is wonderful now (having it with butter fried breaded veal cutlet) and I think it will be good for more years ahead.

November 24, 2021 - Total let down. This is usually a benchmark Dolcetto, but this bottle wasn't. There was an odd petrol/rubber tire note that made me think it might have had a Mercaptan fault. Underneath it was pretty, dark fruit; but I couldn't get past the fault. I hope my other bottles show much differently.

September 22, 2020 - Opened 1 hour. Color is nice ruby red. ON the nose: red and blue fruits. ON the palate: Blueberry , currant and little licorice and vanilla on back end. Finish is quite short. Decent everyday wine. I was hoping for more.

August 18, 2020 - My bottle seems to be really different to what the last tasters had. Would definitely not say red fruited, more plummy, blueberry. A little clumsy, the alcohol shows. Maybe it has been stored in my wardrobe for too long, its been a couple of years. But that will usually not hurt the wine in my experience.

July 30, 2020 - Lovely nose of dark berries, sweet fruit, and cloves. Good balance with nice acidity and more dark fruit/berry flavors on the palate. Nice finis. This really needed some time to shine. Nice Dolcetto that probably will get better with more time.

June 7, 2020 - For my palate, this is perfectly in the zone right now. Juicy, some tangy red fruits, framing structure, good persistence, and bright purity. Some almond skin, and cranberry weave in and out, adding more complexity. recommended+

May 18, 2020 - This is a really delightful dolcetto. A fragrant nose shows ripe red berry fruits, floral notes, hints of anise and clove. The palate is very pleasant with juicy acidity and a just a little bit of structure. I served this close to cellar temp and it was very enjoyable. Seems like it has plenty of life left in it as well.

October 29, 2019 - The B. Mascarello Dolcetto usually ages well but I preferred the 2016 better on release based on multiple recent bottles.
