October 6, 2023 - Oxidised notes; caramel; bruised apple, dusty spices, a little chalky minerality, ripe black fruits are non-delineated, slight volatility. Sourly juicy, grippy and drying mineral tannins, but, alas, it falls off a cliff very quickly leaving the impression of alcohol warmth and regret that this wasn't consumed 3-4 years. I'm going FLAW here as I can't believe that this structured but pancake flat wine is meant to be like this.

December 30, 2022 - Nose was a little prune/molasses/anise - palate was mineral, sour cherry, good acid, soft tannins. Good with Calabrian sausage pizza.

July 15, 2022 - Half bottle. Brick, almost brown colour, pale, some sediment. Nose a bit farmyard. Palate slight spritz (I find this annoyingly often in Italian wines), medium light body. Medium length. Interesting, in a “probably not again” way. Not bad, but doesn’t deliver at the price. An education, rather than a revelation.

April 13, 2022 - Glowing pale garnet. Nose of red fruits with a touch of violet and that Etna/Nerello Mascalese lava or rocky note; a touch under medium-bodied, raspy tannins on the midpalate and sprightly natty acids, red fruits quickly transition to a smoky gravel finish of length. It's probably a bit expensive for what it is - would probably be reasonable value at 50-70% of current retail, but you pay for the Frank C name and philosophy. 14.5% ABV.

December 13, 2020 - Beautiful nose with a lot going on, on the palate there is so much tension wrapping around bright red fruit - but there is too much fine grained tannin and a drying on the finish with a tiny bit of something a little off putting. Hope this shows better on day 2- but I’d say “ Hold’em of ya got’em”
