May 14, 2020 - Lovely intense Cayuse nose, floral, spice, bacon, juicy but bit reduced on palet, lovely purity, texture. Needs 5-10 years.

April 25, 2020 - Whoa, this nose. Cigar box, tobacco, espresso bean along with some violets. Powerful wine and meaty, big long finish. Not for the faint at heart.

December 25, 2019 - Still young and a bit disjointed but very nice complexity. Much potential.

September 7, 2019 - Winebar [1 Rosé, 3 Whts, & 8 Reds] from 09/6/19 + 2 Shared, Milton Freewater (Aka: The Rocks) AVA Reds (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): Dr. Tom, how can we EVER thank you sufficiently for sharing your hard to come by Cayuse wines? :)

From a "10-acre plot which was their 1st vyd planted in the stones of Milton Freewater in 1997;" Supposedly 96% Syrah & 4% Viognier co-fermented with ≈70-80% stems, then aged in demi-muids & foudre (15% new).

N: SMOKE, flowers (violets), RIPE berries, minerals: As I've found previously with this producer's reds, so MUCH going on that it's tough for me to parse!

P: LM body; Very NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which, while staying within hailing distance of the init frt, works itself into a LONG, balanced finish with a delectable tangy/swtness to the few, very, VERY slightly bitterish, dusty tannins. Approachable now with food, this DESERVES/needs into, poss through, '21, then making its 10th? An impressive wine, PARTICULARLY aromatically! 13.5% ABV; My EXC, *very* likely at LEAST a notch higher with time. 98 pts Dunnuck, 95 & "Cellar Selection" WE @ $90, & 94 Suckling! [As of early Sept '19, wine-searcher shows (secondary?) sources from $99-$180!].
