May 2, 2022 - One hour decant through a screened and aerating funnel. Muted berry aroma during decant. After resting, wine was clear; dark garnet bowl progressively lightening to an amber rim and a small clear halo. In the glass: smoky aromas, followed by a floral potpourri, blackberries and garden herbs. In the mouth, tannins all gone; wine was smooth, muted black fruit, some forest floor and thyme on a moderate finish. The wine has developed further since I drank two bottles in 2021. IMHO, it is time to drink up over the next year or so for maximum pleasure. This wine was an excellent example of perfectly mature (and affordable) Bordeaux.

February 12, 2022 - A very lively wine. Lots of fruit and mature at the same time with no hint of moist cellar. Balanced and delicate. Not a very grand wine of course, but very decent indeed. Very pleased. Drank it alone, no food, no nothing. And it did well. Decanted for half an hour.

October 30, 2021 - Medium garnet with some bricking around the rim. Nose is blackberry, blackcurrant, leather, cigar box, ash tray, a hint of sage and sweet spice. The tannins are now fully integrated. The texture is silky smooth. Acid is medium and alcohol is imperceptible. The finish is polished and of medium plus length.
Crazy that last time I had this was 9 years ago and my bet on waiting it out was absolutely correct. This is fully mature and drinking beautifully now.

September 24, 2021 - Less impressive than other bottle of same drunk recently. Still quintessential claret but more indication of post prime.

September 16, 2021 - Wow. Amazing! The cork did break, but near the end closest to the wine, and not much wine seeped up the side of the cork at all. Aromas of stable, leather, and ripe red fruits. Color is amazing - still a good brick red/garnet. Flavors of saddle, sage, dust, and roasted red fruits with long finish. A stupendous wine, a perfect compliment to smoked Prime Rib with Leek Bread Pudding for our 26th anniversary!
