July 31, 2021 - Deep colour. Superb nose. On the palate, slightly hot with intense peppermint overtones. Long but tannic finish. Not ready yet. Is there enough fruit, though?

    Tasted at the Winos’ Gruaud-Larose dinner, vintages 2002, 2000, 1999, 1996, 1990, 1986, 1982, 1975, 1973, 1967, 1961 (see reviews for the other vintages)

May 24, 2021 - Needed air to clear up some mustiness. Black cherry, pencil shavings, cedar, long finish. Nicely mature Gruaud Larose.

April 16, 2021 - Such a beautiful nose so expressive of left bank Bordeaux with notes of graphite minerals and grilled nuts. Lean and chiseled in the style of the vintage and beautifully balanced and lifted. Delicious flavors of smoky black fruits, graphite and wintergreen. Finishes silky and layered with complex notes of black spices, leathers and dill. This is such a distinctive terroir which is still made in a traditional style.

March 28, 2021 - 64% cabernet sauvignon, 26% merlot, 7% cabernet franc and 3% petit verdot; IPT 74; 13% alcohol. Perfect cork. Deep ruby. Need decanting for 2 hours. Intense and beautiful nose of cassis, cedar, cigars, earth. Big structure. Taste of dark fruit, dark chocolate, tobacco. Plenty of life. Long. At peak.

March 13, 2021 - Deep ruby. Pencil shavings, a smidge of tobacco and dense blackcurrant leaf. Nicely clean. Depth within a classical frame. Quite firm currently, lots of interest and potential. ****

(Gruaud Larose) Classic nose of Gruaud funk and a supple. silky palate. Tannins were not intrusive and this was very harmonious. Not outrageously rich but drinking great now and a classic GL.
