Community Tasting Notes 7

February 6, 2022 - Too acidic in my taste. Structure is undeniable there, but even on day three the wine has not mellowed down. Probably a good food wine but less for standalone.

November 27, 2021 - Tart cherry, cranberry, and dried herbs. Acidity sems a bit unbalanced in that tartness makes more of an impression than the flavors of the fruit. Great with cheeses, especially semi-soft varieties.

February 7, 2020 - NIce fruit forward and bright. Not much tannin.

October 13, 2019 - Medium purplish ruby red. A bit savory on the nose with some leather, purple flowers, cherries and Provance herbs. Very dry and steely on the palate with medium tannins (5.5/10) and medium minus body. Dry and savory overall on the palate with a bit of leather, tobacco, dried cherries and some metal. Quite a bit of acidity too. Might need some more time to develop. Drink over the next 6 years.

October 12, 2019 - Steely almost Washington state dryness and clarity. Nose is enticing but the body finishes with tons of bitterness and metal

(David & Nadia Pinotage Siebritskloof) Medium dark ruby color; fresh, cranberry, cinnamon, charcoal nose; tasty, light-medium bodied, fresh, cranberry, cinnamon, charcoal, saline palate with good balancing acidity; medium-plus finish (13.5% alcohol; from 20-year-old vines; the nose is reminiscent of a Paolo Bea, while the palate is more like a light-medium bodied Jura red--all quite unlike any Pinotage I've sampled before) 92+ points
